Structural Works by Gibson Builders

What we do

Careful planning. Precise delivery.

Structural alterations require careful planning, temporary support and disciplined execution. We work with the right information and trades to deliver safe, accurate changes.

How we work

A clear route from first ideas to final finish.

  1. 01

    Review

We study the engineer's information, inspect the site and confirm access, loads and construction requirements.

  2. 02

    Protect

Temporary support, sequencing, dust control and site safety are planned before structural work begins.

  3. 03

    Alter

Openings, steels and reinforcements are installed accurately, with inspections coordinated at the right stages.

  4. 04

    Restore

Surrounding surfaces are made good and finished carefully so the structural change feels completely integrated.

The result

A more open, flexible home with the structural confidence to match.

Every project is handled with practical advice, clear communication and the level of finish expected from an experienced local builder.

Common questions

Structural Works FAQs

Practical answers to help you understand the permissions, programme and management of your project.

Do structural alterations need planning permission?

Internal structural work does not always require planning permission, but it normally needs suitable structural design and Building Regulations approval. Listed buildings, external changes and some party wall situations can add further requirements. We work from the relevant professional information and coordinate inspections.

How long does structural work take?

The site work may be relatively short, but the full programme also depends on engineering information, approvals, steel fabrication, access and making good. We confirm the sequence once these details have been reviewed.

Can we remain in the property during structural work?

It may be possible for contained work, but temporary supports, noise, dust and safety exclusion areas can make parts of the property unavailable. We assess this with the proposed sequence and explain whether moving out temporarily is advisable.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Structural drawings and calculations allow us to price the temporary works, steel or timber, installation, access and making good accurately. If information is still being developed, we make provisional items and exclusions clear.

How is structural work managed?

We coordinate the engineer's design, temporary support, specialist trades, deliveries and building control inspections. The work is sequenced carefully, and surrounding areas are made good once the structural stage is approved.
